Since its first edition in 2011, EFG Sailing Arabia – The Tour has grown in stature to become the region’s annual premier offshore race and a favourite winter destination for sailors around the globe. 2018 marked another milestone, with the introduction of Diam24 as the official class, offering the race crews an exceptional experience.
The 9th edition of EFG Sailing Arabia – The Tour will take place from 2 -16 February 2019, following a route which showcases the beauty of the Sultanate of Oman:

The cultural and educational elements of The Tour add an entirely new aspect; crews, teams and sponsors will explore the breathtaking landscapes and mystical traditions of Oman as a tourist destination, with local guides creating an incredibly safe, informed and interesting environment.

With Northern Europe in deep winter, Oman offers outstanding warm weather racing for the Diam24 class. Hosted in February, top amateurs and professionals from Europe, North America and beyond compete in warm, sunny weather alongside the very best sailors and up and coming talent from the Sultanate of Oman.

Varied wind speeds provide exhilarating race conditions as each team competes on an identical Diam24. With every team using the same boat, preparation, teamwork, technical skill, strategy and absolute professionalism determines the result, making EFG Sailing Arabia – The Tour a battle of wits designed to bring out the best in competing crews.

Organised by Oman Sail, an internationally accomplished sailing and sports event management organisation, EFG Sailing Arabia – The Tour connects sailors with Oman’s long-standing nautical traditions as they explore dramatic coastlines in the Omani peninsular.
Since 2008, Oman Sail has run sailing programmes for thousands of young Omani women and men. Pledging to teach 70,000 Omani children to sail by 2020, we are inspiring a generation to discover and enjoy this fantastic sport.
Oman Sail also coaches high-achieving racing teams, role models whose ultimate objective are the Olympics. Our star sailors have already achieved many victories and the National Youth Squad regularly excels in regional and international competitions.
We are ambassadors for Oman, highlighting a cosmopolitan and hospitable country and a prime destination for sports, tourism, business and commercial investment.
