Muscat, 29th June 2021: Oman Sail has unveiled the details of the 11th edition of Sailing Arabia – The Tour, kicking off from 24 November – 5 December 2021. Since its very first edition in 2011, the race has grown in stature to become a premier annual race and a favourite winter destination for professional and amateur sailors around the globe.
Showcasing the unique coastline and beauty of Oman, the route will take participating teams to unique destinations in Oman starting from Mussanah to Sur and back to Muscat for the finale, with coastal raids and in-port races at each stop. Each team will be competing in an identical DIAM24 trimaran, ensuring each race is a tough test of the teamwork, tactics and the endurance of each crew.
Saleh Al Jabri, Project Manager and Acting Head of Sailing Events & Commercial at Oman Sail, said, “We are really pleased to be able to organise yet another exciting edition of Sailing Arabia – The Tour in 2021. The event has become a sought-after and anticipated fixture in the calendar over the past decade and a high calibre event for talented Omani sailors and a strong international contingent to test themselves in warm winter weather”.
He added, “Every year, the event has enhanced Oman’s reputation as a world-class host, blessed with perfect sailing conditions and welcoming people. This year will be no different and our deep-rooted maritime traditions will be evident at each stop as the exciting, fast-paced racing captures the imagination of spectators and allows the crew to experience authentic Omani hospitality.” The Tour will be run in full adherence to the official COVID-19 safety protocols.
